My point is that members already DONT abide by them, yet the CWU has never issued ltb's regarding this.

TO: THE BRANCH SECRETARY

Dear Colleague,

Official Industrial Action : Date to be added
As a consequence of official Industrial Action taking place during the above period in a number of offices, Royal Mail have advised us that in order to restore a full service to its customers it may be necessary to divert work to other offices to clear backlogs caused by the Industrial Action.
It is important that picketing only takes place at or near the workplace where members have been balloted and not at any other office or location which may be being used during the period of Industrial Action.
Furthermore, any refusal by members who are not involved in the balloted Industrial Action to work as directed is, in fact, unlawful Industrial Action.
Branches are reminded that only properly balloted Industrial Action is legal and any refusal to co-operate with management over these changes may be deemed unofficial Industrial Action and therefore illegal. This, of course, applies to use of supplementary staff and levels of overtime to clear any backlogs. All such measures will be subject to normal consultative arrangements.
If any difficulties are incurred then Branches should contact the Operational Assistant Secretary.
Yours sincerely,

BILLY HAYES DAVE WARD
GENERAL SECRETARY DEPUTY GENERAL SECRETARY (P)

I'm not telling you to do anything, i think it's up to everyone to do what they feel is right for them, but in so doing be honest and not make up lame excuses that's all i was trying to put across.
I have nothing against you and as a PT myself i know the crap you probably have to put up with.
So on ending this message i will wish you luck and hope all goes well for you as my intention was not to offend.
we are all in this together for better or worse

Im sure if the union is seen to support Unofficial action then by law it can have its assets frozen and perhaps other things. This would essentially mean no union. While handling blacklisted mail is of course morally wrong, its not the union at fault here; its the Labour government refusing to remove the anit-union legislation.

1st of all regarding the LTB i put up and some of you are jumping on,think for a minute the legal reason as to why it was sent out in the 1st place,if you have no idea why it was sent PM me and i'll tell you why.

2nd there aint gonna be anymore of those LTB's as far as i'm aware.

3rd one man/woman strikes and loses money, one man/woman picks up their work on overtime and makes money,in you heart or your head, think about it ffs!

You my friend have a very clouded vision of what is actually happening in some offices, so maybe best if you dont comment without seeing the bigger picture.[/quote]

And you are away with the fairies in la la land. By all means handle the diverted mail during your duty time (as legally you have to). but what moral code have you got in your peanut brain to think it acceptable to do OT. :no no

It beggars belief that this needs spelling out, in my office the ones that shout the loudest about the way the job is going are going to be the ones sorting that mail, they want it all better conditions, pick up any overtime caused by the ones trying to achieve this and also they are the ones crossing that picket line, it (they) really makes me sick!!!! :arrrghhh :no no

So POSTMAN would you take the o/t ............i for one will not perform overtime whilst fellow members are losing money trying to get a better deal for us ALL ,Also if these people that do the o/t and directly benefitting from their fellow brothers and sisters ,in my eyes ,are nothing short of strike breakers themselves ...what is the point of being part of a union if youre not willing to to take the rough with the smooth REMEMBER we are the UNION not just billy hayes or dave ward we are the voice be PRO-ACTIVE you dont need to be a rep to take part ,dont just leave it up the rep and get stuck in to them when it goes tits up we all have a part to play ,we non-reps can do things reps cant and vice-versa ,if you think for one minute that its ok to benefit from your fellow bros and sis then go ahead because i firmly believe that these people always get whats coming to them,WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND,we all must be singing from the same hymn sheet otherwise we will flounder and eventually we will get washed up on the shore and then the gulls and maggots will pick away at our lifeless bodie So for the sake of our jobs and the future of the next generation of workers ,because this is not just afight for postal workers this is a fight for ALL workers up and down the country, this looming strike has the potenial to be just as big and equally as nasty as the miners or even timex so ,SO LADS and LASSIES ......WE ALL KNOW BY READING THIS FORUM DAY IN AND DAY OUT THAT MOST PEOPLE CAN TALK THE TALK ....BUT CAN YOU WALK THE WALK...........THIS IS THE TIME TO STAND UP ..AND DO THE RIGHT THING ...FIGHT FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN ...WE MUST ALL SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER , WE MUST ALL HAVE THE SAME VALUES OTHERWISE WHAT IS THE POINT IN BEING PART OF THIS UNION

SO LETS PREPARE FOR BATTLE
AS YOU KNOW ,BY NOW ,THE NEGOTAIONS WILL BE FRUITLESS
AS THEY NORMALLY ARE ,

SO ..................AGAIN, I SAY,........................ARE YOU READY
