Advice on my wife may have to hysterectomy

Hi i work full time and have 2 children under 5 years old , my wife may be taken in for a hysterectomy and wanted some advice on what or if im entitled to time off as i need to be home for a a while , thankyou

you should be entitled to some compassionate leave--usually up to a week unpaid, but at Managers discretion.
could you not apply to take some of your holidays early? much as it pains me to say nice things about R/M management,
they have allowed me to do this at times of family illness, good Luck.

my wife had a hysterectomy 5 years ago, i had a day off to take her to hospital and a week off on her discharge.
ALL ON FULL PAY NOT AS HOLIDAY !!!!! SPECIAL LEAVE.
YEARS AGO SOME MANAGERS WERE OK!!!

Add to that a law that was introduced in November of I think '99 which makes provision for instances such as this.
you are allowed some time off, but payment is at the Managers discretion.

should have leave , be it paid or unpaid on a par with Paternity Leave , because that is a very serious operation , if the woman is working it's at least 5 - 6 weeks off work , and only very , very light stuff around the house to aid recovery / convalescence
