Fantastic!!!

Post by weetrogg »

Although all may not agree, the local election results and the london mayoral result are fantastic!! In my ward new liebour were defeated for the first time, and i would like to take some credit for that as i managed to get 15 people, family and friends to go and vote, most of them for the first time ever and i know of two other postal workers in my ward who did the same with similar results. I wrote to my local MP and councillors during the dispute and told them that unless they started to change direction and policies that i would do everything possible to kick them out.

Now getting rid of an MP is a different kettle of fish, but it is possible. The only way we will get change is when the people get together en masse. I believe now is the time to stand up and be counted, not just sit by and complain. I personally think that the unions. are not doing their jobs, so i think now is the time for the grassroots to take back control. How?

At branch and local level the public sector unions need to organise, for instance in my area there must be 4,000+ public sector trade union members, if all the local union branches got together to form some effective organisation, then the potential number of votes at stake cannot be ignored by are MP. Now i know this sounds idealistic but in my eyes theirs only one thing stopping it happening-US!!!!

Now im no radical lefty, i just want a fairer country, a country where we have a fair tax system, a country where those taxes are spent properly on public services, extra police, transport and youth services etc not on illegal wars that are costing innocent lives, not to mention billions of £s, a country where after having worked and paid taxes all your life, you can rely on your pension, both private and state to provide you with some dignity in your retirement, a country where wages rise at the same rate as the cost of living, generally a country where our elected representatives care, listen and act in the best interests of the people they are their to represent!!! Jesus, in New Liebours eyes i would classed as radical left!!

As john lennon said "you may say im a dreamer but im not the only one"

WE are the union :nana :nana :nana

Being a Scot & living up here in SNP land there was no elections for us. What pi**es me off the most though is that the people of the UK voted for Tony Blair & Labour. The voting would have been different if dithering Brown had been in charge. Now England & Wales have voted almost unanimously against Labour, should that not show Brown that he does not have a mandate to lead nor does Labour have a mandate to run this country. Get out now Labour, go lick your wounds, listen to the working class and rebuild and come back as a Labour party for the people and not for the rich. How can they put forward new laws, new policies etc when it is apparent that no one wants them :evil/mad

What would be great is if you take all the Scottish MP's in England back to Scotland, we don't want them :pray
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

A Tory mp told me if England is only country for election the tory would won the general election, but if you include scotland, wales and northern island they all vote against Tories which made it difficult. That probably why all Labour MPs are not english.

We have our very own political parties, mainly the DUP, UUP, Sein Finn, SDLP and Alliance, Labour never stand and the only Tories that stand are independent and not aligned to the national party.

And what would you have in its place in the meantime? There could well be a realignment of fiscal provision if the Tories come to power and you would like that even less.

so did anyone actually voted for the person who was best suited for their area or was it party voting?

To be honest it prob would be a different kettle of fish if more people have used their vote.

What we need is an alternative political system...

Is a cross in a box once every 5 years really democracy? Pericles would be turning in his grave...

Out with elected dictatorships and party politics.

I agree party politics is and will only look after those who are invited to the party and theirfor their interest's!. Now is the time to overthrow the party system once and for all!.

I am worried now though. Listening to all the news items with Broon and his hangers on they all say they are listening and keep listing things they say that they think the public are worried about. However, most of what he lists affects the middle class more than the working class. I hope he changes his tune soon or the working class will give him a drubbing in 2 years.
