Plan 'b' is easy, make revisions that work, not plan 'a' which was make revisions that save as much as possible. :left:

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Everyone who has been involved in revision seems to have been incompetent so this might of been a slight technicality overlooked .
The inputs were fine,in our case they were triple checked at the highest level.
The two main issues that caused the problems were the use of the lowest traffic week and the inclusion of tuesday in the traffic model.
Both were flagged up at the time and our objections to both were rejected at Divisional and Director level.
That is why the Indoor Workload Tool didn't provide enough hours and why pegasus threw out walks that were based on unrealistic traffic levels.
Therefore the whole revision was built on sand.

Ditto! Same result. As for revisions being called off........just wonder how much scrap value the WSMs, vans, HCTs and LCTs have...........maybe they could get some money back :cuppa

This is simple when plan b is put into action feed kilometres instead of miles into the computer . Using kilometres will make our duties 3/8 th smaller . Everyone's a winner , management get to use their modernisation tool successfully , the CWU can claim they have got the best deal for it's members and we get achievable work loads .The discrepancy between miles and kilometres can just be brushed under the carpet . When I read this back it doesn't sound that daft because duties 3/8 th smaller would be about right . Brilliant I'll email Moya with the details . Oh I forgot we would have to employ another ten thousand staff or make thousands full time , f*ck back to the drawing board .

The vans should be used because the one good thing to come out of revision is the removal of use of private cars .

Well fishtank you shouldnt be using pegasus anyway, it should be geo route, thats why Durhams failed.

Also the program had the vans conveying at a steady 30mph from office to delivery, loop to loop and delivery back to office, not taking into account acceleration, braking, traffic, lights, roundabouts or any other stoppages or slowing down.

Both RM and CWU should have had all these problems sussed long before implementation.

Its currently costing them an absolute fortune, and theyre skint.

P&L is a dead duck and will soon be abolished across the board.

As will working Saturdays.

Q&A's on Pegasus/Georoute as of December 2010

RM answers in red

The concern was that speeds, specifically walking speeds were not sustainable throughout the entire delivery round especially with longer spans

It is the business' view that the set of parameters that come together to optimise delivery routes adequately produce routes that are achievable, fair and realistic. There is a set process within the revision cycle to validate optimised routes to confirm its achievability and incorporate local variables were applicable

Average speed for male and female employees

All jobs within RM letters are planned on standards that a trained employee can achieve and we do not discriminate for gender.

The CWU do not believe that the time within the system is sufficient for undertaking attendance calls.

The attendance call times are reasonable and reflect the mail profile and current operation.

System still may not be crediting some routes with enough attendance call items.

Instances where it can be demonstrated that the average attendance calls exceeds that provided in Pegasus, there are clear processes and the facility within the planning toolset to address the issue

100BSI The ability to set outdoor performance similar to the capability in IWT

Outdoor performance standards are based on what a trained employee can achieve.

Vehicle Speeds To discuss the appropriateness of these speeds and its application to route design

The current version of GeoRoute has the intelligence to apply road speed in much realistic manner than in the previous version, where local circumstances differ from the optimum solution, there is set process for escalating and amending road speeds to represent local operation

Clearer understanding on how Pegasus integrates replenishment methods into optimisation and concerns that this process may not be adhered to.

Pegasus does fully incorporate all replenishment point supplied. It will allocate the appropriate time to and from points of replenishment as well as applying the relevant service time at these points

Understand how the outputs of the two versions of GeoRoute compare

RM does not have a licence for v2001 anymore, to do this RM will have to purchase a licence for an obsolete tool

No workload in Geo-Route for welfare stops

No resolution, refer issue back to main workshop group.

Why RA or fatigue allowance is only applied to indoor planning values and not outdoor

The values contained within the outdoor tool are based on what trained individuals are able to achieve. It would not be appropriate to add in relaxation allowances as this would build in too much time

Understand how travel/acceleration to first point of delivery and how ancillary activities prior to delivery are incorporated

Pegasus does fully uses the road network to establish travel times and also allows time for ancillary activities such dropping off colleagues etc

Understand how routes and loops are constructed, Adherence to SSOW and clarity weight management using HCT on steep terrain

Explanation of route and loop design shared, SSOW documents for the different equipment type also available. Guidance on planning routes to manage terrain also available to the planning community

How Pegasus establishes path lengths and how non standard path lengths are addressed during route design

Pegasus does establish the average path length of every street segment. However should this number not reflect reality, there is a facility available to apply measured values that are auditable

Why is it then...such an epic failure.....?

I have not read the whole thing but the one about the path length is so so funny. From path to door of my house is about 15 feet but I have been to houses where the path to front door is about 80-100 feet. And some are like climbing Ben Nevis and coming back down with a big back on a wet day is like an assualt course.

Even some terraced houses where you can see the door to the other house is about 10 feet but you have to all the way round gardens and hedges and all sorts to actually get there.

Your making RM's problems your own , just detach yourself from it and you will feel a lot better .[/quote]
im not making royal mail problems my own,, its been forced on us, management saying you do it or else we bully you.. because goe-route and the planner said posties can do it..
