Re: What they have agreed so far
[quote="fishtank"] I know of at least one planner on this forum so maybe he could tell us how much actual walking is in a 4hr park&loop duty and how much mail you would be expected to carry "on the shoulder".
Surely nothing will be carried on the shoulder. You are supposed to have a trolley in the van to use ( along with 3 walks all the packets, tracked ,specials etc).

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: What they have agreed so far
I just cannot see where the saving will be made with this "park and loop" idea, because thats the bottom line with RM, cutting costs etc, as they dont give a flying f**k about us as everyone knows. 2 posties in a van with 2 bigger walks between them, more packets and upto 5 lots of D2D's each to deliver in a corsa van??? Basically a corsa car,(poss the smallest car in britain) minus the backseats LOL!! These things break down, need servicing, drink fuel, need insuring, taxing etc etc etc. The Dom also said only walks further than a mile radius from our office with use the park and loop. The other ones will use motorised trollies, whatever the f**k they are. I just think this mad idea is gonna create a hell of alot of problems in the workforce with friction aswell, partners being late for work, knocking up, becoming work shy etc etc nevermind the cost side of it.fishtank wrote:It's a good point about the vans creedscat.
This is not a proven delivery method, the trials have been patchy to say the least, the park&loop system was designed for two drivers not one and the feedback at least on this forum is far from positive.J ust what happens if this whole thing fails? Or will it be allowed to fail after spending so much on vans? I know of at least one planner on this forum so maybe he could tell us how much actual walking is in a 4hr park&loop duty and how much mail you would be expected to carry "on the shoulder".
If this system does not produce savings and no matter what people say it will have to eventually or in an even worse scenario COSTS money. Will RM pull the plug on it.
And if they do will we be left with 4 or 4.5 hr deliveries completely "on the shoulder".

Which one gets to pull the trolley?clashcityrocker wrote:fishtank wrote: I know of at least one planner on this forum so maybe he could tell us how much actual walking is in a 4hr park&loop duty and how much mail you would be expected to carry "on the shoulder".

Do you take turns?
With all the a*seing about taking trolleys out of vans, loading them up,i presume walking back to the trolley once you have finished your bundle, taking the trolley back to the van ,moving the van and starting again there won't be much time for delivery.

Phantom shares are a interesting area as it is a GROUP wide scheme and pays out for everyone from Mr Brydon and Mr Crozier down to the rank and file. If there any changes to the shares will it be applicable to everyone or just CWU grades in Letters.

Having taken legal advice it would seem there are a few more "implications" than both the CWU and Royal Mail first imagined but i will keep my own counsel until i see the agreement and the wording therein.

You LOL too soon - the trolleys, and you get one each, are collapsible golf trolleys, and when I say collapsible, the older ones collapse unintentionally. The original plan was for 20 minute bursts from the vehicle which has apparently now become 40 minute bursts so that the vehicle moves less - keeps the mileage down and they then become more valuable on selling - but of course, all pie in the sky because the packet load increases, both SD and Tracked have to be delivered too.creedscat wrote:clashcityrocker wrote:fishtank wrote: I know of at least one planner on this forum so maybe he could tell us how much actual walking is in a 4hr park&loop duty and how much mail you would be expected to carry "on the shoulder".

A trolley in the van???? LOLOLOL!!!![]()
and where you gonna put this trolley eh?? the glovebox??
Still the idea was for weight off the shoulder and therefore the bursts would have meant lighter bags more movement but as in all things RM things change on a whim or whoever is doing the planning at any given time.
