1. Stop it crashing after finishing scanning and putting it in coat pocket then it doesn't work afterward which mean hard reset needed.

2. Stop it loading Sat Nav when I haven't ask for it.
3. When in 'Signature' mode, only enable the signature box part of the screen to be touch sensitive.

That I don't think they could do without changing the hardware, but they could've put the signature box at the bottom of the screen thus meaning people where unlikely to be pressing the screen elsewhere. You'd think that would've been picked up during the testing programme before they rolled the new hardware out to everyone. What's the betting it was picked up, but someone decided that it either too expensive to change, too difficult to change or not likely to be a significant issue?

Might be possible in software, they could perhaps program the software to ignore any inputs from the screen apart from the signature box. Is the "confirm" button on the screen?

Just a thought, but given our maritime climate,it might have been wise to procure a waterproof device.
What do I know ? Maybe Christmas will happen again some time this year?

The "confirm" button is called "done" and appears visible to press only when the PDA is held at a certain angle. I think the idea is that the customer presses the "done" button onscreen but in my experience they don't unless by accident. They are more likely to press something you don't want them to and mess it up.

I'm not sure if the PDA is waterproof or not as it hasn't fallen into a bucket of water yet. It is certainly shockproof given the amount of times I have accidentally dropped it on concrete and tarmac. The screen is recessed as well so I haven't damaged that either yet. The main water related problem is raindrops on the screen make it nearly impossible to write on with the stylus. A finger works a bit better then.

AFAIK it's not a multi-touch screen though? So whilst you could modify the software not to process an input that was outside the box, it wouldn't mean it could "see" the input that was inside the box.
