I strolled in half an hour before my start time, made myself a coffee, went and had a cig. Occasionally got asked when I was gonna start (not by management, but by colleagues who just thought it was wrong that i was sat having a coffee and smoke when there was work to be done), I would look at the clock and say in 10 minutes!!! But mostly they knew not to annoy me until my caffeine and nicotine levels were up to acceptable levels :)
