Milton Keynes seems to be the Super Hub, just sent a truck load of 2C large out to MK.

Only Tracked yorks arriving fully loaded and no small or 2c mixed in either.

Got to admit they seem to have it well organised.

Based on past experience, that'll probably only last a couple of weeks at most before it's back to everything being mixed together

In theory you won't get any large, in practice you'll get some
Wouldn't it be possible that management may expect mailcentre staff to be slightly more professional going forward?

They are allegedly sinking a great deal of time and money into this, I'm sure they're not going to just sit back and watch processing screw it up because they can't tell the difference between a large parcel and a small parcel.
So what exactly is a Large Parcel and what exactly is a Small Parcel it's so subjective I was taught many moons ago anything that cannot fit into a bag was a Large Parcel but as many people in Royal Mail have never seen a mail bag it's a bit of a futile example. For me anything Shoe Box size and over is what I would consider a Large Parcel. At my MC they have introduced a practice where Tracked is scanned on Primary sorting and is thrown in with the "Live Mail" and the last 45 minutes of the shift all Live Mail is sorted in with the Tracked both on Primary Tracked and Secondary Tracked. As always it is about saving hours for the Mail Centre tough luck on Delivery Offices with the extra time it adds to their time

We only mix Tracked and non-Tracked at the end of the shift if one section is snowed under to get everything out the door on time

Is this the beginning of the end for early shifts in MCs?

Could be the beginning of the end for more than that, I can't imagine after spending that much money on super parcel hubs for them to be used as well as the existing mail centres that they're taking the work from.

Why would they be spending money on PSMs in every MC if they planned on closing all the MCs?

Because this is Royal Mail? :Very Happy

More seriously, it could be because Superhub One is getting starved of work. No big rush of new retailers jumping at the chance to use us. So, what do you do to not look ridiculous? You inflate the stats by swiping work from every other MC.

Our 2nd class oversized parcels are now sent to Atherstone to be sorted to our LAT hubs. It started on Monday / Tuesday. When the trailer returns with the parcels sorted we send them on to the hubs (cross docked). On Wednesday morning all or most of the hubs refused them only for them to be sent back to the MC to be resorted to the individual delivery offices. Talk about a complete waste of time and money.

Wouldn't put it past RM to order that the "refused" parcels get sent straight back to the hubs, as that work is technically theirs now.

What reasons did the hubs give for refusing them?

With these 'super hubs' and PSM's in most MC's then there has to be a revision/realignment of duties.
I can see a few lower seniority MC staff getting moved to DO's.
My DO could certainly do with some extra staff like many across the country senior guys leaving en mass
