I totally agree with what you`ve said and like other offices we`ve got a few p****s with big sticks!johno47 wrote:Why o why does this not surprise me, the only times ive heard them talk is either in a foriegn language or broken english, it really is a disgrace, the standard of management from the main boss and Lighthouse is absolutely dreadfull, they need to be told that management is not just about how many degrees youve got or how clever you are, its about common sense answers to problems and man management, in other words how you behave and communicate to people, they just dont understand that this job has always been about give and take, and if you treat people with respect and look after staff that them same staff are more likely to help you out when your stuck or need a favour, a good working atmospere and happy workforce has been proven to be more productive, the main boss seems to think that the best way to get the best out of staff is to use the big stick and create an atmospere of fear and oppression, where everybodys frightened of making a mistake, and Lighthouse ive never met anybody who seems to know less how to talk and behave with people its like RM have cloned him and downloaded every rule and regulation into him, there is no give and take with him its just the RM line every time, the worst part about all this is its not just our office, its happening up and down the country in other offices, its a sad indictment to a once great company that these people get their attitudes from people at the top...UNITY IS STRENGTH.
The following is a CWU handout we got last night:-
"....... On the day the strike was called of last Thursday, the night shift came into work to find managers performing postal workers work. They felt so strongly about the situation that some work areas refused to work with them. The two night reps tried to resolve the issue but to no avail, at about 22:45 the area processing rep also arrived to try and resolve the matter again to no avail. At this stage it was agreed with the night shift manager to hold a meeting in the canteen and a call out was made for all CWU members to go to the canteen.
....... At first the meeting was addressed by the night rep and then the area rep took over explaining why he didn`t think taking unofficial action was the best option. At the end of the meeting the staff agreed to return to work, which they did.
At tis stage after a brief meeting with the night manager the area rep left the building and the two night reps stayed to sort out any problems that might arise.
There was no contact between the area rep and senior management over the issue the next day other than a one line letter inviting him to a meeting on the following Tuesday.
There was no further contact untill that meeting. At that meeting the area processing rep and ****** were given a three page document highlighting the penalties that are now going to be imposed because of in Royal Mails words `the unofficial industrial action`. We have put the full set of sanctions up on the CWU notice board and it will also be shown in the branch magazine as there are far to many to highlight in one document.
Despite the area rep stopping industrial action he has been informed that his release time has been taken away for a period of one month and other reps release will be looked at. Furthermore all unofficial breaks have been taken away on duties and SA for all night shift employees. Also SA allocation will now be peformed by the book room, these are just some of the sanctions.......
When asked why the area reps release time had been taken away despite him persuading the membership to go back to work, the answer that came back was twofold, firstly Royal Mail believe that the area rep had a responsibility to stop any unofficial action and despite him stopping the action they deem that as unacceptable
On Tuesday evening both divisional reps came to try and resolve the issue, after a 3 hour meeting with Royal Mail the divisional officers believed they had reached a way forward after Royal Mail had stated that if the CWU agreed to try and assist clearing the backlog of mail in the office-because they believed the CWU had organised a go slow-they would look at the situation again.
Despite the CWU holding daily shift meetings with shift managers on the early and late shift (the night rep asked for a meeting but it never took place!) and the office obviously making inroads to clearing the backlog, this despite not having enough equipment and the late shift being short of over 50 duties on Thursday evening, Royal Mail informed our divisional officers today that they would not be changing their position.
We are asking at the moment that we have no adverse reaction to what Royal mail are doing and whatever happens in your work area you continue to work normally. We are currently seeking advice as to what we should do next but rest be assured we will not let the matter rest. As we believe people are being unfairly punished for things they had no power to stop."
Thats it, sorry it`s` a bit long but i thought it would be better reading near enough verbatim.
So - it seems the backstabbing B******s are multiplying, Who said clones?
I nearly forgot to say that to really rub it in of those who attended the canteen meeting a number had that time docked as `unofficial action`
