In Europe they wear hi-vis vests. Have a shoulder holster for their PDA. They don't have windows down on the van. They don't stop for more than 10 minutes at the height of the day for a rest or it will show up on the PDA, they have later starts every year so they can get more sun. Oh that's US!

Don't make the mistake I made in the hot July of 2013 - I froze 2x 1 Litre bottles of water for the next day and by 11 AM was sweating like a paedo in a prison riot. Sure enough, I got a bottle out of my bag and only a dribble had defrosted which was insufficient. I almost fainted about 30 minutes later and had to ask a customer for a glass of water. By the end of the round I'd say at least 3/4 of each bottle as still frozen. Lesson learned - even a subtsantial tepid drink is better than a dribble of cold drink.

taking breaks when out on delivery? :Boo hoo! what if your office has agreed with the union that breaks are to be taken before you leave?
Only if it was worded 'take your break in the shade' as in your allocated meal relief. As it says 'take breaks in the shade' I interpret that as taking additional breaks out on delivery due to conditions.
The machine stops.

Why not drive back to the office have a pee and a meal or something else to eat 13:00 is the time with the hottest sun so return before then watch the managers face then go back out bring the keys back on time and tell him/her you do it!
