I could see Royal Mail going for Tuesday - Friday delivery to save money in very long term and make us work 9 hours 45 minutes a day. (with hour lunch break)

It would be nice - but not so much for the 15,000 or so posties who would lose their jobs.
so why would so many people lose jobs just because we work mon to fri and all have the same days off? sounds a bit crazy to me , theres still gonna be the same amount of work load. please clear this up for me.
If we only worked 5 days instead of six the floaters would not be needed
well surely if that was the case Royal Mail would do it and save loads of money?

They cant because of the USO requires a 6 day per week service.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

I think with the increase in self employed with working tax credits, part time work, zero Hour contracts and workfare type work the hours a day are likely to come down, look at the likes of Tesco, Amazon, TNT, and many other big firms, after this next few years of safety <-(hopefully) passes.

Perhaps a few full timers working long hours but slowly replaced by the above.

As of next week i'm on 30 hour contract due to revision starting at 8.30, the official finish time is 14.30 i think. Might be able to be done by 13.30 but more likely 14:00/14:30
And your problem is? How can any delivery be 2.5 hrs?

My case is rested. Shoot yourselves in the foot

well if he,s in deliveries obviously he does know better.... they keep saying to us that they are dropping but we are on the frames prepping in from 6.10 till 8.40 EVERY DAY. (longer sometimes) If the mails dropping then why are we spending the same amount of time prepping every day. surley it would be getting less.

All the DSA which used to be mailsort 3
aye, some of that mail is standing in mail centres nearly all week and they decide to send it out to the D.O.s for a saturday morning delivery. why.? got to be deliberate.
It only arrives in MCs the day before it's due. DOs not taking out MS3 on a Saturday probably played a part in that stuff going over to DSA
me mate is nightshift at our local mc. he told us the dsa stuff we had recieved for the sat morning (matalan) had been standing down there all week.

exactly. i pointed this out on here. we are now doin MORE indoor work that we did BEFORE the mail was walksorted. the ones who dont work in D.O.s havent got a clue. unlimited D2Ds agreed by the union because there ''wouldnt be enough indoor work'' to justify the jobs....HA.!! SHEEEEE--ITE.
