Re: white yorks . sorting packets
When they introduced these, it was one of the many "straw(s) that broke the camels back" that made me leave.
It just shows the utter contempt RM hold for their employees.

There's no change in the number of boxes that they hold and no change in how they are nestedfb1969 wrote: ↑03 Apr 2024, 14:16The job I do now means that I am seeing RM from the customer's side.
We use Yorks on a daily basis and there isn't a single advantage to the white sided ones compared to the original ones. The white ones hold 10% fewer of the boxes we use, they stack in 3s instead of 5s so take up more warehouse space. They often have pieces broken off which has caused sharp plastics edges. Being ex-RM colleagues ask me why the change was made, and I shrug my shoulders.

Re: white yorks . sorting packets
Did you read what I posted? I stated the boxes WE USE - the Yorks take fewer of the boxes WE USE. You'll have to come to where I work and count 50 when there are only 45 of the boxes WE USE on the white sided Yorks.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑03 Apr 2024, 19:35

Likewise you'd better show me how to count to 5 when there are only 3 Yorks in a nest, and we have been told several times by RM that only multiples of 3 will be delivered. And the SSOW states three at a time! I've attached an extract below for your benefit.
Apart from that thanks for posting your apparent support for the white sided Yorks, and effectively calling me a liar.

Are MCs stacking trays of mail in Yorks with the corrugated inserts?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑03 Apr 2024, 19:35There's no change in the number of boxes that they hold and no change in how they are nestedfb1969 wrote: ↑03 Apr 2024, 14:16The job I do now means that I am seeing RM from the customer's side.

Re: white yorks . sorting packets
The inner dimensions of a corrugated York are obviously narrower than a bare York by a small margin to take account of the sleeve/lining thereby reducing its capacity. This has the effect, for example, that you can’t stack two Amazon boxes side by side in such a York, even though they fit perfectly in a non-lined York.

The Yorks that arrive at our DO containing mail trays, do not have the sleeves on.CarryingMGMT wrote: ↑03 Apr 2024, 20:24Are MCs stacking trays of mail in Yorks with the corrugated inserts?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑03 Apr 2024, 19:35There's no change in the number of boxes that they hold and no change in how they are nestedfb1969 wrote: ↑03 Apr 2024, 14:16The job I do now means that I am seeing RM from the customer's side.

Oh really? And your point is what exactly? Amazon boxes... Blah blah.Smoothbackground wrote: ↑03 Apr 2024, 20:26The inner dimensions of a corrugated York are obviously narrower than a bare York by a small margin to take account of the sleeve/lining thereby reducing its capacity. Do you work at Amazon? Since when do we measure the capacity of anything by how many Amazon boxes could fit in it?Smoothbackground wrote: ↑03 Apr 2024, 20:26The inner dimensions of a corrugated York are obviously narrower than a bare York by a small margin to take account of the sleeve/lining thereby reducing its capacity. Good. I thought with the 'nesting' of 'boxes' comment they were talking about trays of mail.Barnacle wrote: ↑03 Apr 2024, 20:27The Yorks that arrive at our DO containing mail trays, do not have the sleeves on.CarryingMGMT wrote: ↑03 Apr 2024, 20:24Are MCs stacking trays of mail in Yorks with the corrugated inserts?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑03 Apr 2024, 19:35There's no change in the number of boxes that they hold and no change in how they are nestedfb1969 wrote: ↑03 Apr 2024, 14:16The job I do now means that I am seeing RM from the customer's side.

'nesting' of 'boxes' obviously means the large parcel Jenga that MCs send .

But in answer to your questions: (a) no, not anymore; and (b) large Amazon boxes make up probably 50% of our oversized, if not more, and so they are something I “measure capacity” with on a daily basis.

Re: white yorks . sorting packets
To follow up
The boxes we use will fit 10 to a layer on a normal York, but only 9 on a white sided York. There is a very small difference in the internal width, but it is just enough to reduce the number of boxes. We can't be the only ones affected, as proved using an Amazon box as a measurement.
It is the same small difference and the fact the sides are enclosed that means you can only nest 3 instead of 5 normal ones.
