The fact that the ballots are no longer active is surely something the union should have notified the members of and in any case they could have used token strikes to keep the ballot alive. Withholding information isn't lying it's just not being honest.
In this day and age and with the costs of the union rising it would have made sense to avoid further expense - they must be damn sure they are going to get a yes vote because if they don't we'll be back to the ballot box eventually - in which case they should have kept the ballot alive.
In the case of the agreement ballot it may well be advisable to ask if they vote no to the agreement are they prepared to take industrial action - something I feel that HQ have never been in favour of.
As for the days spent on strike by London, they were individual ballots and as for the crap that everything elsewhere in the garden was rosy is bullshit, as is highlighted by the support on the National ballot, which is the reason the meetings are taking place. You could have lost 200 days and RM would NOT have come to the table - you lost 20 but that does not give you any kudos in this agreement - it was national support that got you here and it is a national agreement we seek.
