And you should be paid overtime for Friday as it's not part of your contracted hours.
You will also be filling in forms, signing Official Secrets Act, and shown round the office probably.

My advice is don't turn up. If you have had to come on here to find out what you will be doing and have been told nothing by your employer I wouldn't even bother getting out of bed, RM have no respect for employees anymore. Find another job. Theres plenty of shop work available on a Saturday morning.

thanks for all your replys, im not 100% sure what i'll be doing yet, my first day is on friday which is when i supposed i will be trained etc. My job title is OPG (Depot) PDO, if anyone could explain this it would really help. Also who should i ask for on the 1st day, i havent been given any contact names or anything, should i just ask for the line manager? or duty manager? the office wont be open at this time in the morning so should i just walk through into the courtyard area?

Well said lounge, its important that blue seeks out the union rep so he can get advice and also to protect against B&H i.e. telling part timers that they have to finish no matter what and all the other sneaky things they try on with new comers. Good luck blue

I don't know how he managed to get a job with us, perhaps RM are replacing staff with TNT employees, won't be long before the vans turn orange.

i just gotta sign this blue sheet to claim overtime, had to do it today, as im only really meant to work saturdays. Was a good day though, quite intreasting.

But welcome to a new club. 6hr contract here as well. You might find they want you to do more, dont be bullied if you can't do it. Of course if you need the money go for it. Of course your holiday pay will suck, as does mine.

They might chuck you on new walks after a few weeks, claim overtime if it takes you longer than your contract, take your break into account as well.

Join the CWU for your own protection.

From what I have learned the blue shirts will help you out, great bunch that look after each other.

dunno if theres any point in me joining the cwu, im only there on saturdays, im hardly gonna benefit their organisation. Yeah i see what you mean about overtime, but at the mo im not to bothered, wud rather learn as much as i can.
