We've none of that mass part time shite so i guess that affects us even less.

You may have nailed it POSTMAN.

We used to have 12 sorters 6 years ago when I went FT and we never failed ever. Now on my delivery I can that overall there does seem to be less mail the problem is even if RMs figures are correct and we have gone from 83M to 75M or approx a 10% decline. However we now only have 8 FT sorting on the good days (3 on one day). That is a 33% decline of staff on a 10% decline in traffic and that's why we are failing more than we did.

Also, not trying to stir things but with 3.5 hr outdoor duties and 10 hour days you have some scope to be able to cope with fluctuations whereas anything more than average and we struggle as no tolerance has been planned in to cope with high traffic levels.

DGP you are gonna get yourself in trouble.............again :left:

Anyway as someone else said the mail may be down but so is the staffing, i think the figure was 35% of the staff gone, no wonder we can't cope when we've lost a 1/3 of the workforce. :no no
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet

:angel :angel :nervous

With the amount of staff we've lost it does make it very difficult to guage whether mail is down or not but all I can is I used to take out 4 trays of mail for a duty but now I take out 7/8 so I'm definatley carrying more everyday.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

More than 10% failed in our office today.

And... we had the audit come in.

The two managers left the office and went home on time. Maybe too stressed to handle the questions.

Hope we have WTL tomorrow

But THATS what cracks me up. Audit/tons of faults found, no action taking against management. If a postie gets his performance looked at........plenty action taken!

You are right, and that is the main point.

I had quite a long chat with the auditor. Met her before and she's just doing her job.

I've had many dealings with Audit in previous jobs and what we have to realise is they are not our enemy!!

Audit can be very good for the delivery side of things because it will highlight problems with; the office , delivery spans, staff levels , etc etc.

Where the problem is ; the budget (unrealistic) driven standards. If you slash and burn to achieve 'savings' but destroy the quality of service. Where does that get you?

The tactic then employed by RM is to blame the Posties for not doing enough. Scare them with job threats. You name it they will do it.

Nowhere is it said they they might have got this somewhat wrong.
