We've done that already. Albeit on the duties we have now. Our rep managed to get a manager out to walk test a problem duty.
Took them till 5.30pm until they finished it. What was the outcome i hear you ask. Well i quote from the managers response, "I wouldn't want to do that every day". Duty has stayed unchanged ever since with some poor old sod having the problem of seeing a manager to leave some on a daily basis.

I don't know about a bundled revision, we'll most likely get a bungled revision, as per all the others we've had in the past.

Oh ye of little faith DH, you input the data into Aplus/Georoute/Pegasus and out pops a fair and equal duty complete with all the necessary information with regards to toilet facilities, parking, size of loops, length of delivery, compatability with partner, ..................................oh yes, it's a winner

Firstly....this is the of the most interesting threads I've seen on here since I joined in April so well done jessicarabbit :cool

One thing you may have forgooten about is the time it takes to get from the delivery office to the first delivery point, the planner won't have allowed for traffic problems, traffic volumes or closed roads, I would be attempting to gain at least 5-10 minutes (not a lot but it all counts) on every job on acceleration time.

Other ideas............you've covered most things in this thread but I'm thinking.

If you are still lapsing then the time it takes to get from the last delivery point of the walks to the first delivery point of the lapsing should be included.

How much time are you allowing at the end of the shift for 'clearing up', handing in registered's etc etc

Oh.......and a thorough vehicle check should take 10-15 minutes.....make sure that's included (that's a good one as our managers hate this but know we have to do it!!!)

What about trips to the loo, is it reasonable to say each member of staff has at least 1 per day and an average wee/pooh, wash hands and walk back to frame has gotta be 5 minutes, needs to be accounted for!!

If I think of anymore I will come back :chuckle

I don't believe that with all the variables involved they are ever going to create a reasonable workload, there is a theoritical "norm" but RM are making this into an unshakeable science.

Thanks for all the advice and tips guys. DOM on leave now so when he returns next week I will start to look at the nitty gritty of the duty make up. From what I have seen already travel time is included in the outdoor time. So for example closer walks are the full 3:45 span whilst walks further away seem to be showing up as being slightly shorter still struggling to sell the idea of walking for 15 mins with a fully laden 100KG HCT before they start delivery I can forsee back problems increasing not decreasing as our paymasters wish to believe will happen under delivery methods. As far as toilet time is concerned I mentioned it casually and DOM asked what I did in my meal relief time. I can't believe every minute of every day is going to be accounted for like this it will certainly affect moral in our place as 'fag breaks' and coffee drinking are what makes the day go by quicker. If you get a DOM tapping his watch everytime you leave your frame it will become a miserable place to work. Still at least we all will be out of the office for more of the day so I guess every cloud etc etc etc. Will keep everyone updated with how it all goes down over the next few weeks. Thanks again guys this site is the source of all my info our branch is not the best at communication......

As far as lapsing is concerned I was led to believe that as we are now going to be shaping the duties to 'the model week' (also known as the quietest period) the will be little if any opportunity to lapse if anything we will be asked to flex up more often than down. Hopefully I am not being to naive....

Your right about the back problems, a mbr at my D.O on mixed buissness /residential delivery within a mile of the office found the HCT hurts his back when giving it a try out.

He prefers a bike and returning to the D.O for repelnishment.

No your not Dingo mentioned it in one of his posts.

I must admit surprise when I heard this as IMHO it will be open season on busy days for Managers to pressurize you into overtime. As I see it if they base the model week on a 75% call rate/traffic figures then if you go beyond the model traffic or beyond the model call rate then you can only do the job on docket.

This is only my opinion but I feel this is a a step change towards enforced overtime. But then I suppose we can grow some balls and try and stop management when they attempt it .

This model week was mentioned today by the planner I met, but he also told my manger that the revison phases need signing off by me as well and all the data we use has to be agreed with me.

No signing by me untill I know my ADR is happy that everything is in order.

This is what Dingo wrote in another thread.

Congratulations Jessica you've won first prize in the scapegoat competion.

You could try passing it on to your area rep, might be worth writing a letter requesting his/her envolvment and getting all members in your office to sign it.
