I was under the impression there were 240 offices running this new trial already. There are some in our area doing it, some not. They all get fed from the nearest mail centre.
If it's going to work/not work the deployment date is irrelevant in my view - in fact, there is more chance of it working in the summer, i.e. now.

That's probably their plan so that's it's all in place by Black Friday onwards
By which point no duties will be going out. Unless they have some miracle plan that'll take 200 Tracked off the Heavies.

Are you suggesting the summer is quiet anymore? Right now my eyes reliably tell me it's mid November.

Like you say, NO duties will work with this system when it’s even busier than now. Some, at the moment have a chance.
I just don’t see the point in delaying the inevitable unless some COM’s thibk they can kick the can into the new year.

Ours moved to now,,, near october. Its a near impossible way of working to put in, let alone do it in a few weeks/ months.
What’s going to change in a few week months vs now?
The whole network has to be ready to go not just individual offices?
So how are they adapting the network to get the trial offices running?
No idea but I assume getting 1 or 2 offices connected to an MC up and running is a damn sight easier than getting every office connected to an MC up and running.

We are one of the trial offices and we have to be up and running for July.

Do you think it would make any difference if they delayed it until October?

The biggest change is the mail centres. They'll need to know exactly which loops from which walks are due for completion and then send out the 2c/DSA only on the days where that particular mail is supposed to be delivered. The rest will need to be held.

The manual letter and flats side has been in place for a few months now. Once a DO has gone over to DM26 we'll still send them all the 2C manual letters and flats in separate trays. They'll need to sort them on their IPS frames to extract the 2C for the walks where it's their 2C day. MCs can only sort flats and manual letters to office level, it's physically impossible to sort to walks.

The DTS doesn't work by loops, it does it by walks, either a WHOLE walk has it's 2C day or it doesn't. It'll be down to whoever updates the Route Planner data in your DO to record the 2C days for each walk.

So what happens to the rural & town duties will they still get all their 2C, even though only 50% is due to be delivered daily?

Which kind of throws the idea into the bin that people will be on the same route each day.

But we've repeatedly been told that only the work due our that day will be coming in. So you at the mail centres better keep that manual stuff until it's going out! :Very Happy And as 2c on each walk will be going out partially then the walks will need splitting up into 2 for the van share side and 4? For the side which is done by the Singleton/van share. Also as above, rurals and HCTs will need to become 2 walks to allow the system to send in the correct mail each day. What an overcomplicated s**t show of shite

They'll get whatever is released by the DTS and whatever goes over to them from the IPS frames (who'll be extracting the 2C for the walks that have their 2C day that day).

The people signed for walks will apparently be on the same walks. The van share pairing will stay on the same 2 walks and do a bit of another. The Singleton will stay on their own 2 walks but obviously get support from the van share. Of course there'll be an increased number of floaters as the 4th person currently signed will become one.

I don't think a walk is going to be split into 2 with 1 half of it sent on alternate days. FULL walks will be sent on alternative days.

We are basically back to start of ODM where 1 person does the packets and 1C on walks 1 and 2, and 2 people do all items on walks 3 and 4, then swap over next day.

Singletons will be since its only 50% of their frame that does 2nd class each day
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next
