It was almost guaranteed it will be a yes vote with embarassing turnout. People gave up on the union since the last botched IA. Those who at least bothered to cast their vote may not work in deliveries, but they can see the 3% pay rise carrot dangling very well. Job is gone to the wall already so lets at least pocket little change if they still offer anything. This is how it is likely decied.
The payrise was nothing to do with the ballot .
But the latest CWU update now infers it was? If it wasn't then why wait until the week after the vote to pay it??
The backpay date of 5th June was the very next pay date after the ballot result was in (coincidence?), so I suppose that they were happy to have people think the 3% was dependant on the vote. I know it wasn't but clearly others didn't.
The constant delays in the DRP's being resolved pushed it into the time when they should have been talking pay rises, allowing the pay to be talked about at the same time.

strange why its not being paid till after the result.
Thought it might be. RM brought out communications explaining how DM26 would work weeks in advance and trials had already taken place BEFORE the vote was cast. I suppose the more interesting question is why did members vote YES because judging from everything online, facebook, CWU live, RM chat you would think that there would have been an overwhelming NO vote?
The CWU can't really talk about a silent majority on the back of a 33% turnout. I know many staff want more Saturdays off that the Union promised and some of them also want to stay on their singleton rounds doing 50/50 rather than have a re-pick and possibly lose their duty. If thats the case then many posties voted out of fear rather than enthusiasm.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
