Why doesn't the PDA grab the address from the 2D barcode?TopperGas wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025, 20:57Assuming they are using the Ad hoc process they'll scan all the items then number them all as per the PDA route mapping, the driver will then just load up their van and proceed to deliver them.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025, 18:36Does the person actually doing the delivery do a out/ready for delivery scan or are they using the same principle as the parcel tracking, where an item is scanned to a york and that york is tagged to a destination or in this case walk. Once the york heads out into the yard, all the items would get flagged as out for delivery on that walk.Smoothbackground wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025, 18:24Well, then the buck stops with whoever last scanned the item, ie, whoever scanned it to route. The deliverer should be able to pick up on this as part of their loading checks as a sequentially-numbered parcel will be missing.Valentina@1 wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025, 05:25What happens if there’s a discrepancy, somebody scans item onto walk/drive but not there once you go out on delivery?
The person that delivers should be the only one scanning in items.
It works OK in our DO until you get a parcel where the person scanning the parcels has chosen the wrong address option, or didn't realise that the "Station Rd" was one miles away from your own DPR route.

Something similar, yep. So Scan to Adhoc Route scanning triggers an RFD scan when the manifest is finalised.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025, 18:36Does the person actually doing the delivery do a out/ready for delivery scan or are they using the same principle as the parcel tracking, where an item is scanned to a york and that york is tagged to a destination or in this case walk. Under this new way of working, I assume they will just leave the ad hoc manifest in draft (ie accessible through Outdoor but not yet confirmed) so that such items can be added or removed? A good driver always checks their itinerary and makes adjustments…TopperGas wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025, 20:57Assuming they are using the Ad hoc process they'll scan all the items then number them all as per the PDA route mapping, the driver will then just load up their van and proceed to deliver them.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025, 18:36Does the person actually doing the delivery do a out/ready for delivery scan or are they using the same principle as the parcel tracking, where an item is scanned to a york and that york is tagged to a destination or in this case walk. Sorry but this system if fcked, it saves very little to no time indoors. Then because you have to load the van without knowing exactly where a parcel is, you loose time outdoors trying to find it. You spend longer loading the van and still have to scan it as you load to attempt to get it loaded in order. When it's pissing down outside standing in the rain trying to scan is going to be a lot of fun. Designed by retatards that fail to see we do not have the space in vans for this to work efficiently.

They’ll probably get wannabee managers to ‘load’ the van for you too and by load I mean shove 200 parcels in no order and wish you luck…

What would be a better time saver would be to get some dividers for the backs of the vans so that once you’re a few parcels in they don’t start rattling all over the place in the back.

I think the likes of Amazon and others have areas segregated into large bags, which takes seconds to load onto the van. RM try to copy but just mis the. Point completely.

Wonder if RM could take the system further. If they wee to bring in sprinters for use on the DPR routes, they could fit shelves into the back of them, with each bit of shelf having it's own ID and maybe a barcode. They could have the system work out which bit of shelf the item is to be placed on, when you go to the back of the van to get it, they could rig the PDA to display where in the van it should (in theory) be located.

I think that already exists well sort of, I'm sure on one of smoothbackgrounds informative posts regarding parcel delivery she's explained how they can be allocated to "zones" so that would be it, similar to the Amazon method of using large bags also mentioned.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑30 Mar 2025, 09:39Wonder if RM could take the system further. Tell me you have never done a delivery in your life without telling me you have never done a delivery in your life.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑30 Mar 2025, 09:39Wonder if RM could take the system further. Re: RMCtv : We’ve been trialling a new PDA application, known as Indoor Sort for Parcel Routes
When I used to work a Sunday shift at a different DO i would go in and scan all parcels myself and load the van and create a route in the PDA.
Last time i worked a Sunday shift, the manager had already scanned the parcels and numbered them up (1-60 for eg) into a york a created a route. All i had to do was load up the van in parcel order.
Yes it saved some time.
However…..Issue of overloading route times by managers.……. When i would do the scanning i would check the optimised route time to make sure i’m back on time. I know of 2 colleagues that have been loaded up way over the route time and had to bring back many parcels.

I remember when Pegasus was introduced many years ago, the problem was the planners implementing it into the DOs were just the managers unemployed mates, doing what they were told. Absolutely f****d all the walks, but they got paid big money for doing it and the doms and line managers got a thick wedge of a bonus too.
