not so easy when your delivery is 50 miles from start to finish failed 1 special today last but one call would have normally gone and delivered it before 1 but now there's no pressure overtime ain't got no time to mess around

This is a terrible thread, the specials are our jewel in the crown and should be treated as such.
If walkers know they are going to fail them then provisions should be made.

As for the emailing leighton thing(or rather his office lackys),there are posts on here where things have been put right when he/they see the complaints.
It's easy to get a dodgy email address!!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

What can we do if after telling the head man that they will be late and he basically shrugs it off and says just deliver it when you get there

I've had loads of failures since the later starts.

Its odd that specials are guaranteed before 1pm when most duties finish beyond that time...

Doing specials first or out of sync with the delivery would put you past your time.

Could RM move the guaranteed time to 2pm or perhaps just 'next day'?

We get told that if we think we won't get there till half 1 at the latest we have to give it to our driver.

Plus we have to confirm it by phone or text by 2 or it's failed regardless.

All our 9ams go with the vans, tho most days we get none anyway.
The 1pms are with the postmen but generally if a duty on ot or being covered by a newbie who will not get there before 1 then they are also on the vans.At xmas they are all on the vans.
With regards to shuts the instruction our men and women get are if they pouch into po they have to phone office to let phg know and they are allowed to reverse the charges to do so, so shouldn't cost them anything.
Generally most of them bring them back anyways.

However even with all this in place we still have managed to fail a few this year, mainly due to no phone call and items not turning up til next morning. This causes problem as we scan all duties before 14.20 as delivered if we have had no contact to say items not delivered.

Of course once we all have the lovely handheld devices expect quality of service for SD's to plummet business wide when the time is no longer able to be artificially manipulated and every item that is scanned as delivered before it actually is,and every item that is after 1pm will all show up in some cases like a very large sore thumb!
