Royal mail always tell us we are responsible for our own health and safety, so do a dynamic risk assesment and if you feel its not safe to be out a certain time, then dont be out at that time, much like um, dog behind gate, im not going in there.

The workplace thing is here...
RMCtv : Simon ' Phew what a scorcher' Thompson : 'Don't over heat- just come back to the office'

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It's madness. There's at least 5 vans at my old office that had broken window regulators and no AC.norris9 wrote: ↑11 Jul 2022, 19:43The Met Office: Heat has the "potential to cause serious illness or danger to life".
The Met Office also warned that 'population-wide adverse health effects are likely' with 'substantial changes in working practices and daily routines likely to be required', while there could be a loss of gas, water and electricity
Royal Mail have us out in these conditions in vans with no air conditioning. Have to keep winding down windows whilst driving and then putting them up again for security reasons. This is a pain in the butt whilst delivering parcels or delivering post to houses by van rather than by foot due to distances between the properties. It's like driving around in a sauna.

None of our vans have AC, I commented earlier that hopefully the day will come when they can't buy vans without it, someone commented their Merc e-van has it so there might be a chance for us all eventually.ronaldinho0097 wrote: ↑12 Jul 2022, 12:11It's madness. The lack of air con in the vans might be partly down to the servicing of air con requiring specialist knowledge and equipment. Very few garages locally do air con servicing

I reckon next Monday (18th) is going to be tracks only. We hardly get any letters on a Monday anyway so it’s not a big deal. It wouldn’t hurt RM to put the H&S of their staff first for a change.

I finish work and come home and forget about work till I go in next day.
Why do they think I would be interested in Royal Mail when I get home

Come on. We all know it is down to the fact that using the air con uses more fuel. That's all they care about.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑12 Jul 2022, 19:26The lack of air con in the vans might be partly down to the servicing of air con requiring specialist knowledge and equipment. Re: When does hot become unworkable and dangerous ?
They are now saying Monday will be around 35, but Tuesday it will be 37 or higher!! Should we even be working outside in those temperatures? Our local bin collections have been affected because the council are saying it’s too hot for bin men to do their job! It will be interesting to see what RM do, if anything.
