Let's get a petition to government in place and protest at Westminster. This is where I think our efforts would be well-placed...that's just my opinion though.
Hah! The tories are the architects of this gig-economy. They've never valued the working class, we are just a tool that keeps the economy turning, while they reap the rewards and skew everything in their favour. The act of privatising all our countries assets has so far just been one big money grab, name one privatised company that is actually better and serves the interest of the consumer/public.
I know, you are completely right. Capitalism and greed is destroying society, The top CEO just wants to make more and more profit every year at the expense of the working class, e.g. using automation to replace employees and offering zero-hour contracts, and unfortunately the current government is a proponent of this.
That's why I voted Labour. I want to see RM re-nationalized. Mail delivery is a PUBLIC service and should be government-owned.
But anyway, I still think the fight is at Westminster. Since the last election, Labour are able to put further pressure onto the Tories. The average joe is getting sick of austerity whilst the fat cats get richer and fatter.

The government are supposed to be acting on the findings of the Taylor Report into the gig economy, who knows if they will or by how much...

Today "A No vote is a vote for CWU to come back to the table"
So won't the CWU be "back to the table" after the massive "yes" vote ?
They must think we were born yesterday !
Oh, and haven't there been more than a few hours of talks already, talks that have got precisely nowhere ?

I noticed the MC staff got 2 of those cards today, the one we all got and a special MC one. If I were actually a fence sitter all that crap thats landed on the door mat over the past few weeks would've certainly pushed me over to the YES side because of the constant mailings and brainwashing sessions over the past few weeks. Its harassment!
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

That's what happens, it's called progress...unless you're some sort of Luddite?
No. Progress is an improvement in condition. Automation may improve conditions, it may not. Nobody, surely, would argue that someone made redundant and put on benefits by automation has improved their condition.
Automation can improve things by making dangerous or tedious jobs unnecessary of course, and/or by improving efficiency, resulting in greater productivity. But if the wealth created by that is concentrated largely in the hands of a few, that is hardly progress . . . unless you're some sort of Social Darwinist.
