It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Yeah I noticed that, no criticism or dissenting views allowed. It’s Martin and Dave’s world now and we just live in it.tramssirhc wrote: ↑10 Feb 2026, 20:45Nowt but hot air. Comments blocked on YouTube. Makes you long for the days of Chris Webb.
Let’s not panic though the CWU already have people in London offices standing around like gormless lemmings holding up cardboard saying “no to ODM”
If that doesn’t sway the thinking of a foreign Billionaire then I don’t know what will.

There certainly seems a targeted push on the London area offices to get them 'strike ready'.
In the interest of full transparency however, why haven't the CWU stated why the ODM has worked in some offices (albeit a minority) and not worked in others. They released an LTB last week stating that it hasn't worked in MOST pilots.

From what I recall of the trial rollout last year, it was seemingly workable in small offices (less than two dozen duties) yet rapidly fell apart when introduced into large urban ones.Perseus wrote: ↑10 Feb 2026, 21:42There certainly seems a targeted push on the London area offices to get them 'strike ready'.

Based on the news that came out of Stockton on Tees DO (where 50 duties had to be reinstated and it still didn't work), I think the smaller offices had been insulated from aggressive reduction in walk numbers which has wrecked large ones where the focus has been on squashing budgets regardless of impact to QoS for too long. Thus, for tiny units the incline to restoring QoS while also implementing change was minimal.
The lesson would then be stop amalgamating units into 200+ duty superDOs on industrial estates miles away from the locale being served. But but but then how will they reverse a doubledecker HGV full of Tracked into the GPO building yard!?
Any Questions?
Yeah, how do I get out of this chickenshit outfit?

All talk no action.
What is evident is the CWU have reverted back to prioritising London *again*
Our rep told us pretty much when he said "we won't have to strike this time because it's all happening in London"
Where are the placards for Banbury Martin?

Union in our office this morning, one of the trial offices where we r doing the 50/50. Says its been working better than other trial offices who have been doing 8 duties between 6 people. He says Royal Mail now want us to use the other system that isn’t working, will mean people losing the their duties, more mail failing and being pushed from duty to duty where needed. On top of the POAL s**t it seems RM are doing what they can to make u hate coming into work in the morning.
Then u look at Robin and managers have their pics on of USO reform managers cheering each other on and clapping what a wonderful job they have done this week when they have moved a few frames around an office. They genuinely sicken me, a crowd of useless lazy pr**s who have never delivered a letter in their lives.

It’s been said the reason Martin Walsh doesn’t post here regularly is because of the abuse he receives. I don’t think that’s the case at all. This is the biggest concentration of postal workers whereby they can air their views anonymously without fear of reprisal. That Martin/CWU ignore you all is a disgrace. I’ve said it before, the CWU could set themselves up as a member here (CWU_Official) and then any personal attacks won’t be forthcoming.
One of his last posts was 30th January. There’s a lot of reasonable responses asking him to clarify some points. Every single one has been ignored:

It’s like he’s gaslighting you, and that’s not on. And now comments blocked on YouTube, responses deleted on Facebook. You all deserve better.

Re: Facebook:Martin Walsh, Deputy General Secretary (Postal) with an update on the latest Royal Mail talks
For me, the key issue is whether the CWU will sign off on any form of USO reform or ODM model before equalisation is agreed in principle? Because once this structural change is implemented and pay/terms are kicked down the road to be "discussed later" then the company's incentive to concede drops down a big hole.
It is ludicrous for the business to claim that equalisation is "unaffordable". Has the CWU requested any transparent financial modelling to test this claim?? RM might not make the net cost savings that Ofcom estimate of £250 million to £425 million per year, but surely they will be saving something? Enough for them to commit to a transparent timetable for equalising the new entrant pay and conditions in step with those savings imo
If reform is urgent enough to implemented before the new financial year then surely equalisation should be tied to those savings through a transparent timetable? And if an agreement isn't reached and RM proceeds via exec action, what's the next step because without a live strike mandate, what leverage does this union have beyond meetings on meetings?

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

I can't imagine OFCOM just plucked the £250m savings figure out of thin air it must have come from RM? Regardless logic suggests if a duty is only going out on alternative days then RM will make massive staffing savings. They are already making savings in many DO's by not employing day off reserves.

MW refers to having 5 meetings in just a fortnight, 2 last week, 3 this week, what are they actually discussing as it must be more than RM saying they want to introduce their ODM model and the CWU saying they are not going to agree to it being introduced?

As long as they collect their £20 million+ in fees they could give a rat's ass about CWU members

I can see them freezing legacy payrises and upping the new starters until there equal then freezing both. Doing away with delivery supplements and getting rid of d2ds as they don't work in this new system. Paid breaks will be gone and boom equalisation is done.
