Covid -19 stage 3 triggered
Hi just a quick question I've been told I've triggered a stage 3 because I was off with positive covid 19 test result because I had already been off with covid twice before the Dom has told me that he'll be issuing me with stage 3 for dismissal even though it was a positive test result.
what do you think my chances are.

Re: Covid -19 stage 3 triggered
If its Covid related it cannot trigger a stage warning and how even a Royal Mail manager can argue having Covid is not Covid related would be an argument I'd love to hear . Get your Rep involved etc etc.

Your manager needs to be dismissed not you .TONY MELON wrote: ↑20 Mar 2021, 22:49Hi just a quick question I've been told I've triggered a stage 3 because I was off with positive covid 19 test result because I had already been off with covid twice before the Dom has told me that he'll be issuing me with stage 3 for dismissal even though it was a positive test result.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Would three times in over a year constitute "excess or repeated"?
The problem is there are no specifics in their get out clause but I would be surprised if this sticks.
Obviously you'll have get the branch involved with it being a CFD.

Re: Covid -19 stage 3 triggered
Just thinking about part day absenses unrelated to Covid, which I don't believe normally count towards attendence reviews, unless they are regarded as being excessive by management...
The OPG has to receive a written notification to say their part day absense record is excessive and future part day absenses will count.
Is there nothing similar written about "excessive" Covid absenses?
Even if there isn't, if Covid absenses are backed up by medical advice from those medically trained and/or the NHS Covid app, you are duty bound to self-isolate to protect others including your work colleagues. There have been a number of reports in the media over the last year of indivduals testing positive at least twice, with a sizeable period of testing negative inbetween them, catching one variant of Covid does not make you immune from future Covid infection.

If three times in a year is considered excessive then perhaps someone should tell the Leader of the Opposition who has also isolated 3 times in that period.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑21 Mar 2021, 12:06Would three times in over a year constitute "excess or repeated"?

The fact that the OP actually tested positive for Covid on this occasion should make things relatively easy for any rep.
The OP should be aware though that their card is clearly marked by their DOM. I take it that there have been a number of other absences in 12 months to get to stage 2, in addition to the 3 covid related absences and it seems that the DOM is desparate for a reason to move to dismissal.

Does the system even take into account the causes when generating the paperwork/prompt for a stage interview?

I've spoke to the union rep he says that the Dom has been told by his boss to issue stage 3 for dismissal hopefully will win the appeal if not then straight to tribunal as I think it's unfair if by law I'm required to self isolate

The system is entirely dependent on the code entered by the manager.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑21 Mar 2021, 14:46Does the system even take into account the causes when generating the paperwork/prompt for a stage interview?
As a manager once said to me the system manages the absence not the illness.
A Covid19 related illness has a separate code (3 actually) that is inputed by your line manager , I'm not sure if there's an 'excessive' code ot they've just put it through with a normal absence code.

Re: Covid -19 stage 3 triggered
This is now a standard quote by any Area manager to their Dom's. I had an arguement over somebody with a disability being issued a review 3 and the Area twatty Manager said the same thing to me and followed it up with " It will get quashed at the appeal anyway" which sounds good but the arsehole doing the appeal might have had a shite day (he's allegedly humanTONY MELON wrote: ↑21 Mar 2021, 15:20I've spoke to the union rep he says that the Dom has been told by his boss to issue stage 3 for dismissal hopefully will win the appeal if not then straight to tribunal as I think it's unfair if by law I'm required to self isolate

Re: Covid -19 stage 3 triggered
The 3 codes are in this thread, there are actually 4...
Self-isolation, testing and reporting and pay.
Keir Starmer self-isolating for third time after Covid contact
Self-isolation, testing and reporting and pay.
Tony is very unlucky.A reminder of how to record absences on PSP:
SAU071 Coronavirus Confirmed Case
SBU070 Coronavirus Symptoms
SCU070 Coronavirus Self Isolation
SDU070 Shielding Self
Something to use in his defence? If three times in a year is considered excessive then perhaps someone should tell the Leader of the Opposition who has also isolated 3 times in that period.
