A BAG containing 500 undelivered letters sat untouched for five months after a local postman died, the EADT can reveal.

"Caring " RM want to send a letter of apology to the poor guys widow and relatives , and friends for making this public , not releasing the link out of so called sensitivity is a cop out and simply not good enough , RM are only concerned with protecting their sorry a***s with Postwatch . You wouldn't expect anything less though .

RM should have protected him better with their duty of care , oh! sorry that's only for scoring petty political points about strike breakers etc when it suits RM .

No doubt RM will probably kill off a few more postmen.

I feel so sorry for Bob's family having all this dragged out.

The only reason it doesn't happen far more often is that a lot of us don't use these boxes. In my office a lot of the keys disappeared. Resulting in us usng a lot of local shops or secondary runs.

And the reason the boxes don't get used is the use of cars on delivery.. . But blame must be laid firmly at the manager why wasn't a box check done i'm afraid the ones who must bear total responsibility are r.m and the manager of his office.

Why didn't RM try their old fashioned secretive and defensive approach i.e . "We cannot comment" ? and did conciliatory apologies , promising investigations and a enquiry . It would have stayed within the DO and RM .

I'd summise either someone from RM has leaked it to make trouble for RM which CAN be fair enough normally or Postwatch trying to prove they are not a paper tiger , unfortunately it's backfired and hasn't been handled well at all.

I feel for the poor bloke.. Dies on delivery and NOT ONE FECKA checks on him and his walk.... Now i would of expected a DUM to wonder if Bob had finished his round.. Being a kind and conciderate type most screws are... But telling the public why the letters aint been delivered after all this time is a joke...

At least ask the family first if telling the locals about the letters and why they were late. And seing if they minded that in there grief. I just feel its just so in sensitive of RM again....

I hope Bob is looking down and is happy that the people will get a tenner a letter off of RM... Hope all the delayed mail was MAIL SORT 3....
