A POSTMAN was airlifted to hospital after suffering serious injuries following a collision with a car in Beckton.
The Recorder understands the 36-year-old was tying a trolley containing mail to a lamp-post when the incident took place in Ferndale Street near the junction with Cyprus Place.
The emergency services arrived at the scene at 10.40am on Tuesday last week, and both roads were closed off.
It appears the vehicle initially collided with the lamp-post and a police spokesman said the car hit a wooden fence with the postman trapped between the two.
