Residents have been advised to expect mail disruption after heavy rain forced a major mail hub to be evacuated.
The Royal Mail centre in Padge Road, Beeston, was evacuated on Wednesday, June 17 after huge downpours caused its roof to "give way".
The centre is a major hub for Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire as well serving areas like Beeston, Stapleford, Chilwell and Toton, and residents have been advised to expect disruption for the next few days.
It follows heavy rainfall on Wednesday which also caused localised flash flooding in parts of Beeston and Chilwell.
Mail workers have advised that there will be disruption to the service today and tomorrow, (Friday, June 19) as a result of the flooding.
Mark Harper, a Royal Mail worker from Beeston who is also acting regional secretary for Communication Workers Union, explained the situation.
"The mail centre was flooded last night (Wednesday) and at the moment the mail is being diverted to Sheffield and Peterborough", he told Nottinghamshire Live.
"I'm down here this morning as we test the machinery and try to get things back up and running.
"It's going to cause major disruption today, we're hoping to get people perhaps back working on the late shift but without a doubt posties won't out in the area this morning.
"Anyone in will be concentrating on getting Nottingham mail out, but that will be tomorrow.
"It's causing massive disruption across the service today, we do all mail for Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
"The centre has always has issues with its roof since it was built. Engineers are here testing machines and we hope to be doing inward mail soon."
Andy Easom, who lives in Long Eaton, is a former mail worker who was told about the incidents from a former colleague.
He told Nottinghamshire Live: "The mail centre in Beeston has been affected and this has had issues over the years with this sort of thing.
"The building was evacuated last night and this will remain the case today, causing major disruption to deliveries in Beeston, Stapleford, Chilwell and Toton."
Royal Mail has been contacted for more information.

It couldn't have been that bad the damage as from the "Service Status" page on the RM website:
The essential work needed to restore full service to Nottingham Mail Centre, which took place throught the night and this morning is now complete and the site is now back up and running. However, it may take us a day or two to fully recover all services, so thank you for your patience.
