How do we stand on d2d at present?

Post by onejontwo »

Does anybody know the unions position regarding D2D at the moment? In our DO we were previously told to deliver D2D only where we were delivering addressed mail, however this week I now have three lots commencing from Monday and we have been told to deliver them as normal ie. before the crisis! Please tell me if I'm missing something.......Is the pandemic over and we're all back to normal?

It’s the same as before, except Royal Mail are suggesting we only take where we go. It means doing a sweep on Saturdays though of where you didn’t already deliver to, or if your a cover get shafted and do a load that’s left over . They don’t care how we do them as long as they are done. I prefer to take 1/6th each day and just do it that way instead of having the odd 1 or 5 every street and you can’t remember who’s even had one

I thought we now had 2 weeks to deliver. In saying that I still have dominoes bumf from a month back sitting in my frame for firms that are shut.

Considering my frame has mostly double slots, the new RM method of D2D delivery is practically pointless!

RM have not made any changes to procedures. We still have to deliver everything by Saturday that week, same as before.

It is vital that you risk your life, and your family's lives, to deliver DFS sofa leaflets by Saturday.

But don't worry, when you're gasping for your last breath on a ventilator all those "thumbs up for your postie" things will comfort you.

I don’t get all this moaning about d2ds, I understand the situation we are in but do we think every letter or parcel we are delivering right now are essential.Where do we draw the line with what we want to deliver.

You chuck them all in on Monday, if your lino is the moaning sort and tells you otherwise make sure you find out and quote the senior rm managers name who said it the other week on rmtv.

It's a primary indicator of the farcical nature of our 'key worker' status, that's why people are p****d off

Yeah I get the key worker gripe , but delivering meaningless d2ds , letters and packets all come under the same bracket as far as I’m concerned.

Surely the reason why we are only delivering d2d to where we go is to reduce the contact with customers.
This then brings up the question of why lapsing is taking place - as this then increases the contact that we have with more customers over and above those we know from our own walks.
A Doctor that i mentioned the lapsing scenario to was dumbfounded, and i will not repeat the first part of his response. However, it did end with the words of why are RM putting further pressure on their staff and ultimately the NHS workers who will have to deal with a possible increase in cases.
My Manager could not give a flying fig about advice from a senior front line NHS Doctor.

Might not be, people might order pizzas at work to eat during their lunch break
