You get paid leave for the initial training and then there is a certain allocation per year going forward. Ask you manager to print off the information on the Royal Mail INTRANET

We have a person who has been threatened with a stage, later withdrawn. For going on exercise.

Either you're a postman or you're not one.
Why should anyone expect time off, paid or unpaid, to go off earning extra money on these jaunts ?

RM can seek exemption under the Reserve Forces Act 96 , it's the Forces/RM's problem , they can't stupidly discipline someone for losing time . Usually most Employers regard reservists etc as a asset but not this brain dead regimented shower ! obviously , it's too deep and profound for the idiots in charge .

The TA had a recruitment stall at my MC last year.
The former CEO of RM, Bill Cockburn, was an honorary Colonel in the TA.
And I'm sure there have been articles in the Courier about the TA, encouraging people to join.
So I don't see how RM can refuse leave or threaten employees with Stages for attending.

If they ever were they aren't now. They are taking the slack up in FRY, Afghanistan and Iraq, particularly in corps and regiments that are suffering under the stretch.

There was a article in The Telegraph Magazine about it , there used to be The Weekend Warrior Image , the Paintballing and Pints Club, S.T.A.B.S -Stupid Territorial Army B****ds, T.W.A.T.S.-Two Weekends and Thursdays .

It's all changed as they're that short with cutbacks , and the civilian job experience input can benefit the Armed Forces . I'd imagine the reality of real action would have weeded those stereotypes out .

The Reservist experience can benefit Royal Mail too , though I doubt if RM would realize that .
