Security Check/ Start date

Last week I received a phone call informing me that I had successfully got the job as a postwoman following the interview.

I quickly got an email about the date of my induction/ start date and a second email about security checks.

I’ve filled in the information for the security checks, although it still says “in progress” on my careers account, and I’m still able to edit the information. Is this normal?

Also, from what I’ve read it seems unusual to have received my start date before security checks have been completed?
