ROYAL MAIL VAN'S MISHAP

08:50 - 19 January 2008

Hundreds of letters fell out of a Royal Mail van on to a dual carriageway in Aberdeen yesterday.

Three Royal Mail staff rushed to the rescue during the morning rush-hour to help the driver pick the letters up from Wellington Drive.

Around 200 letters were scattered across the road and pavement.

A Royal Mail spokeswoman said: "The door of the van appears to have opened and around 200 pieces of mail fell out. All the mail has been retrieved."

The driver in question was off today but he's going to get some slagging on Monday! :left:

Just curious, how and why would something so trivial appear on the net?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The local rag will print anything regardless of how uninteresting it is.

Quite right - if the postman had fallen out of the van it wouldn't have made the news at all. I mean 200 letters - wow that must be practically one bundle of mail.

Hope he doesn't get disciplined for it, but give him the full slagging he deserves :dance

About 15 years ago one of our lads was picking up the christmas turkeys that a farmer had been fattening up and killing for us - unfortunately for him on the way back he hit a patch of ice and turned the van over in a field - every christmas since then there has been the cry - xxxxx got the turkeys yet followed by the sound of fifty postmen imitating the sound of turkeys gobbling - newcomers look round wondering what the racket is all about.
