Got the job as Postman with driving....I start soon and want to prepare mentally and physically beforehand....
I'd like to think the job will be fairly hassle-free, but based on job reviews I have seen on some review websites and some comments here, I am expecting the job to have a fair bit of stress involved with it. I even spoke to one of the guys at the depot before I went in to be interviewed and they told me that at the depot the managers are on top of you and fellow postie's can get annoyed with you if you are slow....
Which is fine as long as it's not excessive which some reviews make out it to be.
The dream would be to come in and get on with what you have got to do and be left in peace and trusted to do your job and not hassled too much to work extra shifts.
In your experiences as posties what has it been like for you. Has it been a case of you being free to get on with your job and do the hours you are contracted to do, or are you pressured into doing more and more work, stay past your contracted hours, overworked, maybe even work for free?
