Local Collect

Can anyone explain how this works, it's not something I've had explained or coached to me. I'm also on my holiday so can't ask my manager.

On Thursday I advised a recorded letter. On Saturday it came to me as a redelivery to the post office on my round as a local collect. I checked the PO opening times online (the PO is inside a Spar), which said 9-5. When I got there at 12.40 the counter was closed and it shut at 12.30, so the opening times were for Spar not the PO counter. The assistant was still able to take the letter as she does both the Spar and the PO counter.

So my question is, do local collect have to be delivered by a certain time? And would the customer have been told they can collect from the next working day, or do they get a notification saying it's available as soon as I'd dropped it off.

No time limit.

The customer gets a notification that its ready for collection as long as you perform the local collect scan, and not the delivered.

Just make sure you select 'Local Collect' from the drop down menu on the PDA.

we have 2 red local collect to be treated as original delivery or black local collect to be treated as local collects

No time limit to them being delivered, just make sure you have selected “local collect” on the PDA instead of “delivered” and the customer should receive notification.

Perfect, thanks for the responses. Yes I scanned the right part and selected local collect on the PDA, straightforward.

I guess it's good form to deliver to the PO early on, but with it being a new round and me mistakenly thinking it was open till 5pm (the PO website opening times need amending!) I didn't think getting there just over halfway round would be a problem.

Just make sure you can it right, they go absolutely barmy at us for scanning them as delivered rather than local collect. It's on a par with failing a special.
