How far will you/do you travel to DO

Post by Caesar »

I'm regularly checking for local positions and just wondered what do people consider "local".
My closest DO is about 4 miles away and so far I've been looking as far as 20 miles away.

The DO I work at is 5 miles from me, takes me 10 minutes to get there which is great for me as I didn’t want a long travelling time, my previous job was 7 miles from me but took me 45 minutes to get there as it was city centre

I would prefer one of the closer DO's but I don't want to risk waiting and then going past my 3 months waiting list position.
I don't mind traveling as long as I'm actually driving rather than sitting in traffic lol

It's slightly easier to get a move/transfer to a job nearer to 'home' once you've got a foot in the door even if it is a few miles away initially.
You will probably hear on the grapevine when jobs come up at an office nearer to home.

Thanks yellowbelly, the possibility of getting a move/transfer was going to be my next question.
