More of a rant really!

Recent starter, everyone friendly and posties helpful... but training very minimal, the absolute minimum Manager could get away with, virtually impossible to get answers from managers regarding questions of procedure, Rotas, holidays, over time etc., one manager tells you one thing, the other one a different set of instructions. One manager thinks corrections/reprimands are best done in public. Feeling very demoralised, other staff involve union rep. In everything for basics management could easily resolve if they bothered! I have done ok I think, and eager to improve, but wonder whether if it will be acknowledged. Some lovely older posties treated with no real value.

I just feel a bit confused and thrown in very much at the deep end!

This is worrying to me as it’s my first day on the job tomorrow, I know I can do the job I’m not worried about that part, I just want a decent set of workmates who are helpful to new starters as they were new once

You'll be fine. I'm now 10 months in and loving it. At our DO most of them are happy to help new starters, you will always get a couple who are arseholes but on the whole they're good. I got on well with my workplace coach and also who I van shared with which helped. As you say they were all in the same position once. Enjoy!!!

Don't worry about it - your description is just more evidence of the dire standard of a lot of management in RM.
