Police name dad-of-two who died alongside his dog in Royal Mail lorry crash

The incident happened on Friday, December 16

Mr Spaven has two children, Richard, 16, and Katelyn, 12

In a statement released through Avon and Somerset Constabulary, Mrs Spaven said: “I would like to thank all the emergency services for their help and support, from the doctor who held my hand in the ambulance to the police family liaison officer.

"I’m also extremely grateful to the community of Burnham for their continued support.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision as they continue their investigation.

In a statement, the force said: "Stephen was a much-loved husband, and father to Richard, 16 and Katelyn, 12.

"The family have asked for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time."

Royal Mail has said its "thoughts and condolences are with the families and friends of those involved".
