The Meadows, Sneinton, West Bridgford and more are affected
The devastating Cattle Market fire will have an impact on postal deliveries in a number of areas today.
Mail would normally be sent overnight to the Royal Mail Delivery Office in Clarke Road ready to be delivered in the morning.
But because of the major fire, Incinerator Road has been cordoned off, and there have been no deliveries so far today, Monday.
his means deliveries to the following areas will be affected:
Edwalton
Gamston
The Meadows
Shelford
Sneinton
Tollerton
West Bridgford
Radcliffe-on-Trent
It's not yet clear if there will be any deliveries at all today from the centre.
A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “Unfortunately we are currently unable to provide any services from our Nottingham South Delivery Office on Clarke Road due to a lack of access as a result of last night’s fire. While there is no damage to our site or to any mail, customers in the NG2 and NG12 postcodes should expect some delays to their mail.
“Our thoughts are with the local businesses affected by this incident, and we would like to thank Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service for their efforts throughout the night and this morning.
“We will resume processing and delivering mail as soon as we are able to access our site. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.
