Very Disappointing Recruitment Process

Post by SW Postie »

This seems to be something that RM constantly struggle with. I get that it’s a busy time of the year with Christmas casuals, etc but going by other posts on here it seems to happen for most of the year. Some people have got in really quick and others seem to have taken an eternity. It almost seems like there is no procedure and that it’s like a lucky dip with an application randomly taken off the successful pile!! On a personal note mine is going through but it took RM 8 days from when I submitted my 5 year work/address history and DVLA code to send it for a DBS check. I’m keen to get started but not desperate as I’m still working, however the delays for some people aren’t going to give them a good first impression of the company.

What are other people’s thoughts?

well its taken me 5 months in total since i applied, and start next week now , was it frustrating? yes definitely but id say its worth the wait, looking forward to it now. the people who spoke to me from HR sound lovely , i would love to have look round their office to see what the culture is just out of curiosity as i never known any company take so long on recruitment.

I read your posts justadude and I can see why you were frustrated. Out of interest did they call you offering you a date for induction or e-mail?

Very Disappointing Recruitment Process

I received an email asking for the additional information 4 weeks ago today to which I completed immediately. I have heard nothing since and my status is still 'in progress'.
My future manager has been in contact with HR as I have had no reply and all I have been told is they cannot give me a time frame and the depot I will be working from is NOT high priority for staff?!?
My last day at my current job is in 2 days, I understand they have alot to process etc but I'm beyond fed up and anxious already and am now worried I will be out of a job for a long time :confused has anyone got any advice they can give me or is it literally sit and wait?

In my opinion the best way to move things on is contact them by e-mail or phone (preferably) and get an update. Did you have an e-mail letting you know your details were being submitted for checking?
