A FEE-FREE cash machine at Thurnscoe has passed a new milestone for the Post Office.
Thurnscoe East Post Office has become the 1,000th branch in the country to install a free-to-use cashpoint.
Since taking delivery of the new ATM last month subpostmaster JB Surti said he had seen a significant rise in the number of people visiting the branch in Lidgett Lane.
"We previously had a fee-paying cash machine inside the office," he said, "but since we had the Post Office ATM installed on the outside wall, our cash machine transactions have increased more than ten-fold.
"More people are also doing business in the branch itself, and the comments I've had from customers have been very positive, as it's very convenient for them and, of course, free-of-charge."
ATM transactions have increased from 105-140 per week to 1,600-1,700 per week as a result of the new machine.
