Royal Mail Pay

Post by Kebab1234 »

Hi everyone,

I am very curious to know about royal mail overtime?

I have friend of mine who completes his shift around 3pm but still gets paid until 9pm as he has put his name in for overtime , but he is allowed to go home early because he has finished all his work/rounds.

I have seen his pay slip and for last number of weeks he has been earning over £550 after tax each week.

Can someone advise me as to whether this is a royal mail standard policy? If you finish your work before your shift end time, you still get paid for the remaining hours?

Thanks!

No. Its actually against the policy of "working all your paid hours".

However, it does go on and everything is usually fine. That is till they are caught and then the postie and authorising manager have a lot of explaining to do.

People have been sacked over it.

Right. Ok.

Was curious to know about this. Because the pay that my friend is on, its a lot of money for a postman. Before tax, I think it works out that he would be earning in the region of £44k as a postie in a year and he is well on his way to earning that.

No one is stopping you from applying, getting a postman job and after carrying 7-8 bags of 6-16 kilos each and walking 10 miles per day for 5-6 hours/day, 4-5 days per week, you will get home the same pay as your friend does

8 bags, 10 miles round a day is just part-time position in my office. To get double it may be 16 bags and 20 miles. I am not slow by the way.
