Hi everyone,

Just a couple of questions.. I have had my conditional offer and am going through the 14 day pre employment checks.
Question 1: During these pre employment checks will they contact my current employer for a reference? As I haven’t said anything to them yet and would rather give them the heads up before they are approached for a reference!

Question 2: as I am waiting for my pre employment checks and have a conditional offer (I know I will pass) I still haven’t handed my notice in at my current employer until I have a unconditional offer and start date. Is this normal or would they of expected me to hand my notice in already? I have to give four weeks!

Thanks in advance

Hi , I don’t think they contact your current employer for a reference as I am confirmed offer stage and they haven’t asked for any references.

When you get a confirmed offer it should take account of the notice period you put on your application. You can also ask for the date to be changed if it doesn’t suit for some reason.
