Hi there. I had an interview for a postman job yesterday. It went well I thought but I'll have to wait and see! Question is, if i get it, I don't really know when I should hand my notice in to my current job. My notice is 4 weeks, but the last thing I want to do is be accepted for the postie job, hand my notice in that day, only to work the 4 weeks, leave and still be waiting for a start date with royal mail!
Anyone else had experience with this?

I think the safest option is to wait until you have an official offer and that should have an agreed start date that takes account of your notice period.

When I joined in 2012 I was given about a week's notice of my RM start date, and that was also the confirmation that I had got the job! I think the email came on the Monday saying my Induction Day was the following Tuesday. I was unemployed at the time so the lack of notice wasn't a problem. Not having enough time to give in your notice could be more of a problem.

Hopefully, you advised the interviewer of the Notice period for your current job and they noted it. However, in most cases, its rarely causes any difficulty indeed one post on here mentioned they got thier start date delayed because of the notice required.MrBrinks89 wrote:Hi there.
