Tributes have been paid to a Dundee dad who died in an early-hours road incident.

Scott Millar, who was 33, died after being struck by a vehicle in Argyllgait, near the Westport Roundabout, on Monday morning.

A 17-year-old has been charged and released in relation to the incident.

Mr Millar had worked for Royal Mail in Dundee’s Central Delivery Office for 14 years.



A spokeswoman for Royal Mail added: “We can confirm Scott Millar was one of our employees.

“We are all very saddened at his death. Scott worked for us for 14 years in the Dundee Central delivery office.

“He had a young family and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very sad time.”

Tragic Royal Mail worker Scott Millar was hit in the early hours of Monday and pals paid tribute to the "funny lad who lived for his family".

Tributes have been paid to a Royal Mail worker who died after being hit by a car outside a nightclub.

Scott Millar was struck in the early hours of Monday after enjoying the Dundee Dance Event.


The popular 33-year-old father, from the city’s Fintry, was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries but died a short time later.

A 17-year-old man has been arrested and charged with a series of road traffic offences in connection with the incident.

Bosses and work colleagues yesterday paid tributes to sorting office worker Scott.

Sarah Ward, Royal Mail operations manager for the area, said “Scott worked at Dundee central delivery office for over 14 years and was a very popular member of staff.

“We are all saddened by his death and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this tragic time.”

Pal Scotty Roberts wrote on Facebook: “One of life’s good guys.

“Always with a smile on his face and a genuinely lovely, funny lad who lived for his family.”

Angela Fleming said: “So sad. A great guy and great dad. Lived for his kids.”

Barbour Nicoll added: “Still speechless, such a nice family guy. Thoughts go out to his kids and loved ones.”

The dance event attracted more than 10,000 to Dundee’s pubs and clubs.

Doorman James Cosgrove, 37, was working at Club Tropicana, close to where the incident happened in Argyllgait, near West Port roundabout.

He described the aftermath of the incident. James said: “By the time I got to the scene, I did think the worst. He looked to be very seriously injured and was covered in blood.

“I did what I could until the police and ambulance service arrived, which was within minutes. I’m devastated to hear he has died. I thought there was a chance he’d pull through.”

Tanya Milne, 25, who works behind the bar at Fat Sam’s, said folk rushed into the venue in a panic.


She added: “Loads of people had been out and about in the pubs and clubs for Dundee Dance Event.

“We realised something awful had happened when people came into the club looking for buckets of water and ice to try to help the poor guy who had been knocked down.


“From what people were saying, it looked like he was in a bad way.”

A police spokesman said: “We can confirm that a 17-year-old man arrested after a road traffic collision in Argyllgait, Dundee, on May 7 has been charged with a number of road traffic offences, and has been released from custody to be reported to the procurator fiscal.”

“Inquiries are continuing.”

‘One of the most caring people’: Friends in bid to raise money for family of Dundee dad who died following crash

Friends of a man who died following a Dundee road incident earlier this week have launched a bid to raise money for his children.

Scott Millar died in hospital after being struck with a car on the city’s Argyllgait early on Monday morning. A 17-year-old has been charged and released in relation to the incident.

And now an 11-strong group of Mr Millar’s friends have banded together to launch a fundraiser to “support” his two children following the tragedy.

The 33-year-old had worked for Royal Mail in Dundee’s Central Delivery Office for 14 years.

The Go Fund Me fundraiser, set up on Tuesday with a £2,000 goal, had already raised £1,165 as of Wednesday morning.

Writing to the page, Mr Millar’s friends described him as a man of “honesty” and “humility”, adding he was “one of the most caring people we have ever met”.

It adds: “We lost our dear friend Scott this week; a piece of our lives (is) now missing. Now with the angels, he was too good for this earth – he genuinely was.

“A man of honesty, humility and one of the most caring people we have ever met, just throw in a pinch of charm and you got him!

“‘Meet you at the pub?’ He would always be there to see us and have a catch-up. The only thing that would stop him would be his family commitments. His children came first.

“He will be sadly missed by his family and friends for the time he gave us and the ear he lent. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and his heart was overflowing with love for his children.

“Taken too early in life we have set up this page to support his two children and ask for your support.

“If you ever had the honour of Scott’s company then please contribute to this fundraiser with as much as you can to make a difference in his children’s lives.

“We love you mate and miss you. There’s only one Scott Millar and there will only ever be one.

“RIP mate, the lads.”
