Vince Cable hails Royal Mail chief Moya Greene as she eyes exit from postal giant

Outgoing Royal Mail boss Moya Greene has helped tackle the “prejudice that still hangs around against senior female executives”, former Business Secretary Sir Vince Cable said on Monday.

Greene, who oversaw Royal Mail’s controversial 2013 float, is widely expected to give way to parcels chief Rico Back although the company declined to comment.

Her departure would cut the FTSE 100 female chief executives from seven to six.

The Liberal Democrat leader, who appointed her in the early weeks of the Coalition, praised her handling of the unions and overhaul of the company, adding: “The fact she was doing a good job helped dissipate some of the prejudice that still hangs around against senior female executives. It was politically quite difficult but it has turned out successfully.”
