Dear Bob

Door to Door Next Week

Thanks for your letter of 7 December. I note your position.

We will tell people on Monday about the 20% premium we will pay for Door to Door deliveries next week. We’ll stress how important these deliveries are for our customers and pay the additional 20% to ensure we meet the promises we’ve made to them.

I hope you will help us by encouraging everyone to do the right thing.

Yours sincerely

Gillian Alford
Director Employee Relations

This is what is happening at our place and I mentioned it to my manager about it on the shop floor. He however did not think that the threat of being removed from your walk so that someone could do the D2Ds was a bullying tactic.

the 20% incentive though is good news.

BTW I wonder if the reason they are pushing this is because 1 of ours is Sky ?????

Today mon 10 dec I told my DOM I wasn't interested in delivering the door to doors and that he would have to organise their delivery. I was told I didn't have a choice in the matter and had to do them. My union rep also told me I didn't have a choice. He'd contacted the unions head office and they'd told him they'd done a deal with RM and we had to deliver them.
What the hell is the point of having a national agreement if it can be ignored whenever it suits the powers that be.

your union rep is wrong got an email from bob gibson stating that he had no problem with the extra 20% payment but it was still voluntary as it was outside of the agreement.

LATEST D2D POSITION - 20% EXTRA / VOLUNTARY.... ? ? ? ?

"LATEST D2D POSITION - 20% EXTRA / VOLUNTARY "...

Please clarify what this means.

Are we getting 20% extra payment for the items we are delivering at the moment (usually 3 lots a week)??

Or can we take up to 20% extra D2D items out (for the same rate as we are being payed at the moment) ??

Thanks

Lovejoys first post in the thread which is a copy of an official letter states:

So as I understand it:

They are voluntary:

You get 20% more allowance on them than you would normally do so. ie if they are

1.67p you now get 1.83p
1.75 you now get 1.925p

etc

however only for this week ie from 10 dec 07 to 14 Dec 07.

A few of us in our office questioned the D2Ds and now we're getting a visit from our Area Manager in the morning aparrently. I rung our local union room but didn't get much sense, with the rep telling me that they may well just ask us to take them within our daily workload! That I'd like to see them try!! There'd be holy hell to pay!!!
Know more tomorrow...
