Thieves targeted a Royal Mail van in Gloucester this morning, police have said

The incident happened in Highliffe Drive, Quedgeley, and mail was taken during the theft.

And there are concerns there could be issues with the postal service this morning.

People have been asked to contact their local sorting office if they are affected.

Royal Mail spokesperson Henry Perry said: "Royal Mail can confirm that a small amount of mail for some addresses on Stanbridge Way, Highcliffe Drive and Coltishall Close was stolen from a Royal Mail van parked in the Quedgeley area of Gloucester this morning.

“We are currently assisting the police with their investigation.

"We take the safety of our customers’ mail seriously and apologise for any inconvenience caused by this incident.

Any witnesses to the incident should call police 101 and quote incident number 154 of January 31, 2018.
