Rates of pay for Birmingham

Post by Newbie93 »

What are the rates of pay for a 24 year old casual mail sorter. On the website where i applied it says PAY RATES
The below pay rates will be applicable to all age groups from 6th November 2017 until 21st January 2018:

6am - 10pm
£7.50/hour - Monday to Saturday
£8.80/hour - Sunday

10pm - 6am (Over 18s only)
£8.30/hour - Monday to Friday
£10.30/hour - Saturday & Sunday

After you have completed 12 weeks of work, pay rates will increase according to your age in line with Agency Worker Regulations. But on the letter i got with the ID badge it says mon - sat 6.00 - 22.00 £7.05 22.00 - 06.00 £7.15 sunday 06.00 - 22.00 £8.18 sunday 22.00-06.00 £9.22

I'm not sure which one to go by.

It's minimum wage for the first 12 weeks so if you are 24 it would be the rates you got with your ID. The job advert does say all age groups get the '25 and over rate' of £7.50 so you should ring them up and query it but knowing Angard it's probably a mistake on the advert but you never know. It's ridiculous that somebody should get a lower rate for doing the same work purely because of their age.
