A post woman has told how she might never be able to return to work after she was savagely attacked by two dobermans whilst delivering mail.

Postwoman and mother of two Sharon Singer, 47, was attacked by the female black Doberman as she delivered mail to the home of Julian Palfreyman at Gold Fen Bank in Wrangle on the morning of July 4.

Mrs Singer, who had been a postwoman for 19 years, went to the detached house where she had been many times before, to deliver the morning mail.

Speaking to BBC Radio Lincolnshire Sharon Singer said: "I got to the premises at around 9.15am and went in as usual, I wasn't aware that there was a dog there as there never had been before.

"I got about 15ft into the premises and this dog came out of nowhere from the side of the house.

"It was barking, snarling and showing all of its teeth. Straight away I knew it wasn't very good and I put my mail out infront of me.

"As soon as I started stepping back the dog was stepping towards me.

"I just looked to my left and another Doberman was there, it just looked at me and then attacked me. It went for my arm and at that point I'm really screaming.

"That's when Mr Palfreyman ran out.

"With a bit of a tussle he got them off me and we both ended up on the floor and then I headed towards the gate but then a dog got free and attacked me again on my back and bottom.

"I got free again and went out of the gate and into my van."

Sharon was left with serious injuries to her arms, legs, hands and bottom and has had to have two operations. She has lost feeling to two of her fingers on her left hand.

Sharon added: "I had a massive hole in my arm and other places in my arm were bleeding, my legs were bleeding and all ripped open. I luckily had some tissue in my van and pressed it to my arm and kept it elevated."

Mr Palfreyman drove Sharon to Boston Pilgrim Hospital to get treatment for her wounds. Her husband David Singer passed out when he saw her injuries.

Julian Palfreyman was charged with having a dangerous dog and has appeared at Boston Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to the offence.

He has been ordered to pay £1,000 compensation.

Sharon added: "I love my job and it's something that I would like to return to , but I don't really know if I will be able to I will have to see what the future holds in that situation.

"If there was a dog in a garden or a dog ran up to me I don't know how I would face it really."
