Understanding overtime pay

Post by Tripster1050 »

Hi
Been working for RM as a postie for a few months and love it but can someone explain the overtime pay in simple terms or provide a link to pay scales.
I am on a permanent part time contract 24hours a week

Many thanks

Understanding overtime pay

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

Simplest terms - Overtime is usually paid the week after performing it.

There are 4 rates

1. Overtime between your contract and 39 hours. This is paid at the same basic rate including delivery supplement but appears in your pay as SSPR.
2. Overtime between 39 and 49 hours - this is at Premium rate and is roughly Time and 1/4 (I think)
3. Overtime over 49 hours - this I have never done but I believe this is at or below basic rate.
4. Scheduled Overtime = is contracted over time.

The actual figures themselves are harder to get but I'll try after work.

I have gone over my contract hours a few times and have my "overtime at SSPR" on my wages not be the same as my normal pay but also not at 1.25 normal pay. No idea what metric they are using.

On your people app make sure you select the option to work more hours, i didn't at first and it messed up my overtime, they owe me 15hours from Novembers pay date

Hi,

Assuming your on a new contract (monthly Pay) your Overtime will be as follows:

- Flat Rate up until 40 hours
- 1.25 anything after that.

Maximum hours you can work or get paid for is 70, but you will need to opt out of the 45 hour working arrangement.

Payment of Overtime is made up to the third Sunday of the month (So 15th December this month) the rest is paid in the following months wage - so you get some months where you get 5 weeks worth of overtime.
