A MAN has been fined more than £600 after waste from his home improvements was dumped illegally in Black Notley.
Musenga Ndiadia, 35, of Rodgers Road, London, paid an unknown man £60 to dispose of a some waste from his home.
The waste was later discovered by residents in Soldiers Walk, Black Notley, who alerted Braintree Council.
At Colchester Magistrates Court on Friday, Ndiadia admitted failing to comply with his duty to check the licence of the carrier to make sure he was authorised to carry waste.
Representing himself, Ndiadia admitted he had asked the gentleman if he was licensed but had not asked to see proof.
Afterwards the postman claimed he had checked the law and found out he had acted incorrectly.
Tope Ojikutu, prosecuting, accepted there was no way to confirm how much of the dumped waste was Ndiadia’s.
Chairman of the bench Don Wicks gave Ndiadia a conditional discharge and ordered him to pay costs and a victim surcharge totalling £611.
